FREMONT, Calif. November 11, 2008 Panasas, Inc., the global leader in parallel storage solutions, will sponsor a wide array of events and speakers at the SuperComputing 2008 (SC08) conference taking place November 15-21 in Austin, Texas.
Panasas will sponsor a VIP Breakfast that will feature a discussion with speakers from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) about the Roadrunner project, the world’s fastest supercomputer. LANL will discuss how they are able to achieve a balanced petascale supercomputer including, compute, networking and parallel storage. SC08 delegates are invited to register to attend the VIP breakfast by visiting the Panasas Events page at www. panasas.com/upcomingevents.html.
In addition to the VIP Breakfast, Panasas is sponsoring a speaker series in the Panasas Theater (booth #1721) that will feature 15 presentations from prominent industry figures from companies such as Ansys, CD-adapco, Cisco, Dell, Force 10, General Atomics, Microsoft and SGI. A highlight of the speaker series will include Panasas’ Founder and CTO Garth Gibson discussing the upcoming pNFS standard (NFS v4.1) and its impact on the high-performance computing world.
Panasas will also be demonstrating their recent product updates at booth 1721, including the ActiveStor 6000 and 4000 primary storage solutions. The ActiveStor 6000 and 4000 deliver up to 700 MB/s per shelf, scaling to more than 20GB/s in a single file system, and now support all cluster networks: 1Gb Ethernet, 10Gb Ethernet and InfiniBand. Panasas will also be showcasing the industry’s first fully parallel second-tier storage solution and newest addition to the ActiveStor product family, the ActiveStor 200. In addition to the latest hardware components, Panasas will be demonstrating the ActiveScale 3.2 operating environment with Panasas’ Tiered Parity Architecture, a major extension to disk array data reliability. In the Penguin Computing booth, Panasas storage will be incorporated into a demonstration of Ansys’ visualization software, highlighting the benefits of a parallel storage environment for industries heavy in design and modeling.
“High-performance computing professionals need simple, reliable, high-performance storage in order to achieve the maximum return on their investment in compute capacity and applications,” said Randy Strahan, chief executive officer at Panasas. “The Panasas ActiveStor platform provides the most complete set of high-performance storage solutions supporting every cluster network, delivering unsurpassed results to technical organizations in nearly every market segment.”
